Is Xpensy safe to use for tracking my expenses?

Yes, Xpensy is safe to use. We use HTTPS encryption to protect your data during transmission between your device and our servers. Your expense information is stored securely on cloud servers, and we never sell or share your personal information with third parties. We follow industry-standard security practices and are working towards compliance with Indian data protection regulations.

How does WhatsApp expense tracking work with Xpensy?

Xpensy uses WhatsApp Business API to receive your expense messages. When you send a message like "₹500 for lunch at restaurant", our secure server receives it, processes it using AI to extract the amount (₹500), category (Food & Dining), and description (lunch at restaurant). The AI then automatically categorizes and stores this in your personal expense dashboard. Your WhatsApp messages are processed in real-time and immediately deleted from our messaging queue - we only store the structured expense data, not your actual WhatsApp messages.

Can WhatsApp or Meta see my financial data?

No. While we use WhatsApp Business API for messaging, WhatsApp and Meta cannot see your expense details. We process your messages on our own secure servers immediately upon receipt. The data is stored in our database, not on WhatsApp servers. WhatsApp only acts as a messaging channel - they see that you sent a message to our agent, but the content is processed privately by Xpensy.

Is it safe to share my financial information via WhatsApp?

When you send expense messages to Xpensy via WhatsApp, they are protected by WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption during transmission. We process these messages on our secure servers and store only the structured expense data (amount, category, description), not your actual WhatsApp messages. We use HTTPS encryption for all data transfers and follow industry-standard security practices.

Does Xpensy store my WhatsApp messages?

No, we do not store your WhatsApp messages. When you send an expense like "₹300 for coffee", our AI processes it immediately to extract the expense details (amount, category, description), stores only that structured data in your account, and then discards the original message. We only retain the expense information you want tracked, not the conversation history. This means your message data is never stored in our systems.

What happens to my data if I delete my Xpensy account?

When you delete your account, all your personal data including expenses, budgets, and profile information is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. We provide a grace period where you can recover your account if deleted by mistake. After 30 days, the deletion is irreversible and we cannot recover your data. You can also export all your data before deletion if you want to keep a copy for your records.

How do I start tracking expenses with WhatsApp?

Getting started is simple: 1) Sign up at xpensy.in with your phone number, 2) Save our WhatsApp bot number to your contacts, 3) Send your first expense message like "₹500 groceries" or "₹1500 electricity bill", 4) Our AI automatically categorizes it and shows in your dashboard. You can message in natural language - just include the amount and what it was for. The AI understands context like "paid ₹200 for auto" or "₹50 चाय के लिए" (in Hindi).

What format should I use to message expenses?

Xpensy understands natural language, so you can message expenses in any format that feels natural. Examples: "₹500 for groceries", "Paid 1200 for electricity", "₹50 coffee", "Dinner at restaurant ₹800", or in Hindi "₹200 खाने के लिए". Just include the amount and description - our AI extracts the details automatically. You can also specify the date like "₹500 groceries yesterday" or the payment method like "₹1000 rent via UPI".

Does the AI categorization make mistakes?

Our AI is highly accurate (97%+ accuracy) but occasionally may categorize an expense differently than you intended. If this happens, you can easily edit the category in your dashboard with one click. The AI learns from your corrections - if you consistently change "Cafe Coffee Day" from "Shopping" to "Food & Dining", it will remember and auto-categorize correctly next time. You can also set custom rules like "always categorize Swiggy as Food".

Can I track expenses in Hindi?

Yes! Xpensy fully supports Hindi language. You can message your expenses in Hindi via WhatsApp like "₹200 खाने के लिए" (₹200 for food) or "₹50 चाय पी" (₹50 for tea) and our AI will understand and categorize them correctly, Our AI understands mixed language too, like "₹500 for groceries at BigBasket".

What expense categories does Xpensy support?

Xpensy automatically categorizes expenses into 15+ categories: Food & Dining, Transportation (Auto, Uber, Petrol), Shopping, Bills & Utilities (Electricity, Water, Internet), Entertainment, Health & Fitness, Education, Travel, Groceries, Personal Care, Home & Garden, Insurance, Investments, and more. You can also create custom categories to match your specific needs. The AI learns your preferences - if you always want "Starbucks" categorized as "Coffee" instead of "Food", just correct it once and it remembers.

Can I set budget limits and get alerts?

Yes! You can set monthly budgets for overall spending and individual categories (like ₹10,000 for Food, ₹5,000 for Entertainment). Xpensy sends WhatsApp alerts when you: reach 80% of your budget (warning), exceed 100% (over budget), spend unusually high in a day (₹5000+ by default), or approach your monthly limit. You can customize alert thresholds and choose whether to get daily summaries or only important alerts.

Does Xpensy support multiple currencies for international expenses?

Currently, Xpensy is optimized for Indian Rupees (INR) as our primary market is India. However, you can track foreign currency expenses by converting them to INR manually (e.g., "$50 = ₹4000 for shopping in Dubai"). We are planning to add multi-currency support in the future, which will allow you to directly message expenses in different currencies and have them automatically converted based on real-time exchange rates.

How does the AI learn and improve categorization?

Our AI uses machine learning and learns in multiple ways: it analyzes keywords in your description (e.g., "Swiggy" = Food, "Metro" = Transportation), learns from your manual corrections (if you change a category, it remembers), identifies merchant patterns (e.g., "Apollo Pharmacy" = Health), understands location context when available, and improves over time as you add more expenses. After 2-3 weeks of use, accuracy typically reaches 98%+ for your personal spending patterns.

Does Xpensy have a mobile app or is it only WhatsApp?

Xpensy works through WhatsApp for quick expense entry - this means you already have the "app" you use daily, no need to download anything new! We also provide a full-featured web dashboard at xpensy.in where you can: view detailed analytics and charts, edit/delete expenses, manage budgets and categories, see spending trends over time, export reports, and customize settings.

Can I track recurring expenses like rent and subscriptions?

Yes! Xpensy supports recurring expenses. You can set up automatic tracking for: monthly bills (rent, electricity, internet), subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, gym membership), EMIs and loan payments, and any custom recurring expense. Just set it once with the amount, frequency (weekly, monthly, yearly), and Xpensy will automatically add it to your expenses on the due date. You can edit or pause recurring expenses anytime.

What analytics and reports does Xpensy provide?

Xpensy provides comprehensive analytics: spending trends over time (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly), category-wise breakdown with pie charts, payment method analysis, budget vs actual comparison, top spending merchants, day-of-week patterns (e.g., you spend more on weekends), month-over-month comparisons, spending predictions based on patterns, and custom date range reports. All analytics are visual with interactive charts and available on the dashboard.

Does Xpensy work offline?

The WhatsApp integration requires internet to send/receive messages and sync expenses in real-time. However, the web dashboard works partially offline - you can view previously loaded expense data, charts, and reports. When you reconnect to the internet, any new expenses you added via WhatsApp will automatically sync.

Do you share my expense data with advertisers or third parties?

Absolutely not. We NEVER sell, rent, or share your personal expense data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties. Your financial data is yours alone. We do not use your expense information for advertising purposes. Our business model is subscription-based (premium plans), not advertising. The only time we share data is: if legally required by Indian law enforcement with a valid court order, or with your explicit consent for a specific purpose (like exporting to your CA). Your privacy is non-negotiable.

What permissions does Xpensy need and why?

Xpensy needs minimal permissions: Phone number for account creation and WhatsApp integration (to receive your expense messages), notification permission (optional - to send budget alerts and reminders via WhatsApp), and internet access to sync expenses to your dashboard. We do NOT need: access to your contacts, camera/photos (unless you want to scan receipts - optional feature), location (unless you want to tag expense locations - optional), or SMS/call logs. We only request permissions that are essential for the expense tracking functionality.

Can I use Xpensy without linking my WhatsApp?

WhatsApp integration is the core feature of Xpensy that makes expense tracking effortless. However, you can also add expenses directly through the web dashboard at xpensy.in without using WhatsApp. Just log in and click "Add Expense" to manually enter your expenses. Many users use both methods - WhatsApp for quick on-the-go tracking and the dashboard for bulk adding or editing expenses.
